This article explores the palm diversity in the Taolagnaro region of Southeast Madagascar. The study, funded by the International Palm Society, discovered several rare and remarkable palm species, including a new species. The region is known for its diverse palm flora, with some species being unique to Madagascar. Many rare and remarkable palms are native to the region of Taolagnaro (Fort-Dauphin), located in the extreme southeast of Madagascar. The following is an account of the palms seen during fieldwork funded by the International Palm Society and includes the description of one new species (Ravenea conferta).
